Why SEO over SEM (Search Engine Marketing)?

What is organic seo?
For the purposes of our site, when we refer to SEO we are referring to what is actually organic white hat seo that meets Google's webmaster guidelines. This is the process of structuring a web page so that it is found, read, and indexed by search engines in the most effective manner possible. This makes your web site and its content attractive, relevant and visible to search engines and web searchers, which in turn produce a search result on the left hand side of the screen under the search box. This is called a natural and thus organic result of the search.
What is the difference between SEM and SEO?
SEM is strictly paying for a result such as the sponsored links on the right hand side of the screen or pay per click SEM or Google Adwords. SEM may also be text ads, banner ads, or any other type of paid ad that appears under a search engine result. That is why it is called search engine marketing. Internet marketing is similar, but a more broad sense of the term that includes all types of paid ads; not just those under a search engine result.
